Make Changes

With the Fall Season bringing change to our landscape, is it a good time to consider making changes within your Home?

It is! And here’s why:

September - November are the optimal months to purchase items at a slight discount, such as bedding, furniture, outdoor grills, patio sets, paint, fencing, just to mention a few!

Retailers scramble to deplete their lingering spring/summer inventory to make room for fall and holiday items. This means homeowners can really take advantage and redecorate more than one room.

What are the most common items to address?

1) Bedroom - change up your bedding, including sheets, quilts, pillows. Purchase a modern side table, and lamp. Throw down a comfy rug, or hang curtains.

2) Bathroom - replace worn towels with new ones in coordinating colors; freshen up your mirror and lighting; re-tile the shower and update fixtures.

3) Kitchen - showcase new appliances, replace dim lighting with modern pendant lights, trade out those old stools for sleek new high back chairs. Change up the backsplash or mix it up with a subtle patterned wallpaper.

4) Living - trade in that outdated oversized couch for something more minimalistic and functional. Freshen up the wall color with a neutral shade in Evergreen Fog, Rodeo, or Winter White. Hang bold colored picture frames. Bring in some new lighting with a simple stand alone birch tree, or rope lights. Add colorful button pillows, for a modern feel.

5) Entryway - hang a large shelf with black iron hooks; update a side table with baskets for keys, mail. Incorporate a new welcome mat or throw rug.

6) Home office - purchase organizational pieces and label everything. Add decorative floral lighting. Freshen up your desk with coordinating storage bins, pen holders, and tablet/phone stands.

7) Laundry - purchase a laundry cart or create one from unused furniture pieces (ie side table, small desk) and organize detergents, paper towels, iron, clothing racks.

Small fixes can really add up to a big change. Take one room at a time, and make a “vision board”. What is it that you really want to see in your spaces? Then make a list of items needed. Check out your local home improvement stores, home decor stores, furniture stores, country stores, and flea markets. You will be amazed at what you will find, and at reasonable prices. If you’re handy (or like to thing you are), be sure to stop into hardware stores, and craft stores.

Make this Fall Season one of change ~ You’ll be glad you did!
